““Eduardo the Samurai Toaster…could be one of the most exciting things to happen to WiiWare. With a title like that, how could it not be?””
With only a three person staff I had a very wide range of duties on this project. My responsibilities ranged from designing elements of the overall game design to leading quality assurance testing groups. On Eduardo I worked on game design, level design, level construction, enemy placement, scripting, difficulty balancing, character animation, trailer production, and leading the quality assurance testing sessions.
I worked on two previous iterations of what would eventually become the final release of Eduardo. The first version was a Java game titled Eduardo the Magical Toaster where I was brought on the team as a level designer/builder. After showing a concept animation video of Eduardo running I quickly added animator to my growing responsibilities at Semnat Studios. If you’d like to learn more about Eduardo the Samurai Toaster’s predecessors I’ll be posting some blog entries once my blog is up and working.
What do you do when you’re working part time and a full time student? The answer for Daniel, Robert and I was to create a video game. This was a project that couldn’t have been done with a better team and I’m proud to have worked so hard to make this game a reality. There’s nothing like seeing a mountain and then working together to conquer it. Creating something we’re proud of and banding together to overcome all obstacles along the way is what I take from this project. I learned so much, gained more experience than I could have hoped, and solidified friendships that will last a lifetime.
